The Challenges:
Browne Jacobson faced significant resource constraints. Their Finance team was fully engaged with ongoing business-as-usual tasks, unable to allocate time for Acceptance Testing of the Aderant Expert implementation. Simultaneously, their internal Test Team was absorbed in a major HR transformation project. This left the firm without sufficient in-house capacity to manage the critical testing phase of their new system installation. Thus, the firm required external expertise to bridge this gap, ensuring the implementation could proceed without disrupting their existing operations or compromising on the quality and thoroughness of the testing process. In addition to functional and acceptance testing, Browne Jacobson also needed to performance test the new application on their infrastructure, which is another core capability of the Prolifics Testing team.
Solutions:
Browne Jacobson enlisted Prolifics Testing for their expertise in software testing in the legal sector. Prolifics Testing appointed a Senior Test Manager to carry out a scoping exercise, which involved meticulously mapping out the project scope, interfacing with all crucial stakeholders to obtain their agreement and buy-in. A detailed Test Strategy was developed, addressing the relevant test phases to address the risks: System Testing, System Integration Testing (SIT), End-to-End (E2E) Testing, and Performance Testing. This strategy was thoroughly reviewed and approved by Browne Jacobson before detailed work commenced as a managed service, which provided flexibility and specialist resources, to meet the evolving needs of the project.
Results:
Prolifics Testing’s UK team continued to evaluate and test 17 integrations and 15 critical modules within Aderant Expert. These modules included vital functions such as Rates, Invoicing / Billing, Commercial Finance, and Regulatory Reporting. This comprehensive detailed level testing enabled the transition into User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with all previously identified defects corrected. The Performance Testing team then took over, using OpenText LoadRunner to simulate large numbers of concurrent users, based on real-world user scenarios for Expert OTG Time & Expert WIP Aware. Performance testing not only confirmed the system’s operational efficacy but also bolstered stakeholder confidence, ensuring a seamless live implementation without issues in the production environment. This the successful outcome highlights Prolifics Testing’s capability to deliver precise and reliable software testing services under tight deadlines.
