Arden University is a private, for-profit teaching university in the United Kingdom. It offers a variety of undergraduate and post-graduate programmes with both blended and online distance learning delivery options.

Arden is a small University and had limited testing resources and SITS skills internally. With tight release timescales they needed to find a partner who had in-depth SITS Testing experience as well as Offshore delivery to help contain costs.
Solution:
Arden engaged Prolifics Testing, as we had 16 years HE sector experience, worked with 50 Universities and delivered over 25 SITS Testing projects. We were also able to mobilise a managed offshore team within a matter of a few weeks which was made up of an Offshore Test Manager and 4 Testers. We worked closely with the Arden Test Manager to ensure there was sufficient test coverage to ensure all areas in scope of Release 1 & 2 were thoroughly tested. We also set up Jira dashboards, so senior stakeholders through to testers on the ground knew in real time the health of the project.
Innovation:
Whilst working with Arden, we were also asked to come up with a fast and cost effective way of creating student records to help with UAT testing. What was particularly challenging was each record had to include unique details. As time was a challenge, we did not have the time to implement our Test Data Management solution, which creates synthetic test data from scratch (as well as masking production data) so instead we used frontend UI automated scripting to successfully create 700 student records in SITS which were then used by the University for UAT.
Scope:
Academic Model, Data Management / Reporting, Admissions and Finance. Our team also tested the vital SITS integrations between Salesforce and Arden’s recruitment system. Within scope of the data generation activity were Online Application Form (OLAF), Agent / Applicant Portal and Online Enrolment.
Results:
Functional and integration testing was quickly able to iron out functional issues prior to UAT, which used the data generated by our automated tests. The automated test pack delivered continues as a re-usable asset.
